Toothwear
Are your teeth worn, chipping or feeling rough? As a child you probably took for granted that you could eat comfortably, had great teeth and gums but as time has passed you may have noticed changes. The signs and symptoms vary but ultimately are caused by function over time, tooth grinding and clenching known as bruxism. If you suffer from headaches, migraines, neck pain, have poor sleep, tooth sensitivity, facial pain these are symptoms of bruxism. If you bite your cheeks, have tori, have worn or chipped teeth these are signs of bruxism.

You first need to have a comprehensive oral evaluation to review your current situation.
Initially models are made of your teeth and mounted on a jig to evaluate your bite
You will then decide following discussion how you wish to proceed and a treatment plan prepared. If you just want to protect your teeth from nocturnal bruxism, toothwear, reduce or eliminate facial pain then a bespoke nightguard will be recommended.
If you simply wish to repair your chipped and worn teeth we can still help to recreate their shape.
The Mearns Appliance
Originally proposed by Brian Mearns, Master Dental Technician over 20 years ago the Mearns Appliance has successfully helped thousands of patients. Currently only five dentists in the world, me included, provide this particular appliance treatment. It has been a privilege to know and have worked with Brian.
The appliance has been designed to allow your facial muscles to relax and also protect your teeth.
It is carefully crafted and fabricated by a dental technician using jig mounted models of your teeth
All being well we would expect the appliance to last 10 years in normal nightly function although adjustments may be necessary over time.
